want more rushmore
Too many times music artists take cues from other people or successful products and attempt to create a rendition, with the hopes of gaining the same hype/recognition/respect (i.e. the repeated inclusion of bling, women & Benjamins in rap videos).
But I applaud Company of Thieves for looking to Wes Anderson and his wonderkind Max Fischer, of Rushmore, to be their first video’s muse.
The video appears to be completely modeled off the film’s montage of Max recalling all of the absurd extracurriculars he participated in while attending Rushmore Prep School. He’s a super-senior of sorts.
Lead singer Genevieve Schatz plays Max while remaining band members Marc Walloch (gutiar) and Mike Ortiz (drums) are included in some capacity for each shot.
This video not only reaffirms how awesome a movie Rushmore is, but also that Schatz (p.s. Schatz=”treasure” in German and is a common pet name for girlfriends) has a huge mouth that stretches extremely wide while she sings.
At least she has nice teeth?
See them June 16 in Baltimore @ Rams Head Live! (w/ Plain White T’s & Days of Difference) or June 17 in DC @ 930
