James Yancey was born February 7, 1974. Christopher Rios died on Febraury 7, 2000. Both of these artists are legends. But more importantly, they have heavily influenced me. Big Pun with his relentless, no-holds-barred attitude. His pure energy. His absolute nasty turns of phrase and incredible intensity makes him one of the best lyricist in rap history. J Dilla with his vintage tone, sample heavy funk. His diversity. His mash-up smoothness, his cut and paste freshness. Basically, it was the diversity and eclecticism of his sound that makes listening to his production such a fucking pleasure. RIP Big Pun. RIP J DILLA. Listen to these two. It comes highly recommended.
