Have you ever wished there was an easier way to connect with your local music scene? Maybe an easier way to know about upcoming DIY shows or just expand your mind?

Audiocandy+radio is an open source, open mic webcasting community.  Radio is traditionally known as a medium that utilizes the airwaves to transmit music to people. We approach this from a different perspective, by creating the space for the community to define itself.  Ac+r can take any form and follow any genre.  To make this even easier and inclusive, DJs broadcast from their personal computers.

We truly believe that everybody has a voice and that anybody can be a DJ. Shows are considered to be “free form,” allowing for anything and everything to be featured in a broadcast. Ac+r also uses the added value of blogging and social media as a means of nurturing the blossoming communities planted by our DJs and their shows. Open in content and open in interaction, ac+r allows for the most pure and honest representation of a community. We encourage people to become as involved with ac+r as possible–whether that means having a scheduled show, commenting occasionally on blog posts or merely being a listener.

And as much as empowerment comes from picking up a microphone and starting a show, listenership and participation is just as significant. Show popularity reflects interest in a genre, and comments develop communal conversation.  Your traffic, input and feedback is as key to the process of creating the ac+r schedule as anything else.  You are an integral part of the equation.
