NPR’s got a pretty solid list for what they call the most important recordings of the decade. I definitely agree with their choices. It’s a good starting point for those who want to get a good background on some of the most influential music of the past ten years.

You should also check out Pitchfork.com’s decade in music. They’ve got a very interesting list of artists – and many that are different from NPR’s selections.

I’ll be compiling a list of 20 favorite albums of the year and 5 favorite songs sometime in December – but it won’t be a list of the most “important” or “best” work. Look forward to that!
